{"id":1659,"date":"2016-03-25T22:43:11","date_gmt":"2016-03-26T02:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.glenshawchurch.org\/wp\/?page_id=1659"},"modified":"2022-08-07T15:17:58","modified_gmt":"2022-08-07T19:17:58","slug":"visitor-faqs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.glenshawchurch.org\/?page_id=1659","title":{"rendered":"Visitor FAQs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to our website!\u00a0 Glenshaw Presbyterian Church (GPC) is a vibrant community of faith located in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh.\u00a0 GPC is a church with a big heart, ready to welcome all.\u00a0 It is big enough to offer programs and ministries for all ages, supported by an excellent and committed staff, and is small enough that we can all know each other.\u00a0 GPC is a place where we strive to grow together as disciples of Christ \u2013 learning and worshiping and serving together, a place where we encourage one another, care for one another, celebrate with one another, and join with one another in loving our neighbors in our community and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>We hope that you will learn more about our faith community by browsing through this website.\u00a0 Below, we have collected answers to a few of the most common questions that first-time visitors may have.<!--Also, check out the virtual tour of our church.--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is the church located?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The church is located in Glenshaw on Glenn Avenue between Mt. Royal Boulevard and Butler Plank Road.\u00a0 Get a map and directions <a href=\"\/wp\/?page_id=27\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, you can view and read about the various rooms within our church via our <a href=\"\/wp\/?page_id=1991\">virtual tour\u00a0page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What can I expect on Sunday?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We come together as a community to worship each Sunday at 10:30 AM.\u00a0 Music is provided by our beautiful organ, our chancel choir, and our handbell choir. Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.\u00a0 You are welcome to join us regardless of your current level of spirituality or your background.<\/p>\n<p>After worship, we have fellowship and snacks at 11:30 AM &#8212; on the front lawn during the summertime and in the parlor the rest of the year.\u00a0 This is a great time to catch up with old friends and make new ones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long do your worship services last?<\/strong><br \/>\nOur services last about an hour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there parking available?<\/strong><br \/>\nPlenty of parking is available in the lots surrounding the church. There is also ample parking for anyone with limitations in the lot immediately adjacent to the main entrance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are your facilities accessible?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, the main level of the church is wheelchair accessible via a ramp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is the main entrance?<\/strong><br \/>\nSince our parking lots are in the back of the church, the entrances that are most used are also at the back of the church.\u00a0 Most people use the main entrance, which is next to the ramp.\u00a0 Another entrance is across from the front door of the Early Learning Center building. There will be greeters at each entrance to welcome you, answer questions, and help you get where you want to go.<\/p>\n<p><!--\n<strong>What about the kids?<\/strong>\nWe are eager for children to learn that the church is a special place where they belong, are loved, have friends, and find important service to do.\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li><strong>Nursery<\/strong> - GPC offers a nursery for the youngest among us (infants through age 4) each Sunday from 8:30 to 11:45 AM.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li><strong>Age-appropriate Christian education for children and youth<\/strong> occurs from 9:30 to 10:20\u00a0AM on Sunday mornings.\u00a0 A greeter can help you find the right classroom for your child. You are welcome to stay with your child during the class.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li><strong>Children and Worship<\/strong> - Children join their families for worship in the sanctuary at 10:30\u00a0AM. \u00a0After the \"Time for Young Disciples\", children age four through second grade are escorted upstairs to the Children\u2019s Worship Center to continue their worship in a way that is meaningful to them.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li><strong>Rocking chair in the parlor<\/strong> \u2013 if you or your child need a break from the sanctuary setting during worship, there is a rocking chair in the parlor where you can sit with your child and listen to the worship service through intercom speakers.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n--><strong>What do you\u00a0believe?<\/strong><br \/>\nGlenshaw Presbyterian Church is affiliated with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcusa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Presbyterian Church (USA)<\/a>.
