Our 2008 Mission Trips

Each year, Glenshaw Presbyterian Church sponsors two youth mission trips: one for the junior high and one for the senior high. These trips are opportunities to put our faith into practice. We dedicate a week of our summer to serve Christ, wherever he is. It is a journey like no other -- a time where we grow as a community of believers and a time when we learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ. The mission trips are a chance to grow spiritually in a way that is difficult in our own comfortable environments. Our mission trips always take us out of our comfort zone, to walk with Jesus in a place we never thought we'd be.

From June 22nd through June 28th, our Senior High mission team traveled to Hedgesville, WV, which is in the heart of Appalachia. They worked with a youth mission organization called TeamEffort. As part of their mission work, the youth and leaders did home renovations for needy families . They lodged at a church called Central Chapel, located in Hedgesville.

The Senior High mission trip participants were John Allison, Miranda Aufiery, Rachel Aufiery, Brett Gerthoffer, Allie Giel, Joe Giel, Marcy Held, Chris Holden, Jessica Holden, Ken Kaiser, Jarrod McGoun, and Bonnie West. The leaders on this trip were Al Cridge, Steve Dinger, Michelle Neely, and Jenn Stauffer.

From July 20th through July 25th, our Junior High mission team traveled to Camp Crestfield for their "Mission Possible" week. The team went to various sites throughout Pittsburgh to do volunteer work. The team lodged right above the dining hall at Crestfield.

The Junior High Mission Trip participants were William Arnold, Zack Daugherty, Marissa Helfferich, Nick Hills, Patrick Horgan, Zak Parrinello, Emily Raines, and Matt Renner and they were led by Jenn Stauffer.
