Youth Mission Trips

Each year, Glenshaw Presbyterian Church sponsors two youth mission trips: one for the junior high and one for the senior high. These trips are opportunities to put our faith into practice. We dedicate a week of our summer to serve Christ, wherever he is. It is a journey like no other -- a time where we grow as a community of believers and a time when we learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ. The mission trips are a chance to grow spiritually in a way that is difficult in our own comfortable environments. Our mission trips always take us out of our comfort zone, to walk with Jesus in a place we never thought we'd be.

This summer, from July 11 through July 17, the senior high youth will be traveling to Philadelphia to work with Broad Street Ministry, "a broad-minded Christian community that cherishes creativity, fosters and nurtures artistic expression, extends inclusive hospitality and works for a more just world through civic engagement." In Philly, the city of brotherly love, our youth will have the opportunity to put Christ's message to love one another into action as we engage in service learning activities that allow us to work with the people of Philadelphia, particularly the poor and disadvantaged.

From July 25 through July 30, the junior high youth will be returning to Camp Crestfield in Slippery Rock, PA to get a taste of what it means to serve the Lord by serving others through their "Mission Possible" program. We will spend the days doing mission work at various sites in Pittsburgh, Slippery Rock, New Wilmington, and New Castle and spend the evenings participating in camp activities and games.
