Summer and Fall Harvests

On the second Sunday of every month, the children of the church and the general congregation enthusiastically donate and collect food for the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Etna. The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank offers a volunteer opportunity to harvest crops directly from the fields, long before they are packaged.

At local farmers' requests, volunteers are called to their fields when their fruits and vegetables are ready to be sent to the Food Bank. Those enrolled in the program will be notified a few days prior to harvesting. Children above the age of seven are welcome, so it's a great family activity.

For those interested in this program, a tear sheet will be provided in the bulletin. Potential harvesting days would include summer and fall weekday evenings and Saturday days. Contact Tom Quigley for more information at 412-486-3831.
