Adult Mission Trip

On an early November weekend in 2007, a group of GPC adults gathered for mission work in Pittsburgh. We met on Friday in the church parking lot and traveled to the North Side where part of the group served dinner at the Light of Life Rescue Mission and the others delivered food to our city's homeless. A short drive later, we landed at the Pittsburgh Project for dinner and devotions with work groups from many Pittsburgh locations.

Rising early the next morning from dormitory style sleeping arrangements (very comfortable, but a distant memory for most of us!), we were served a delicious communal style breakfast and sent on our way to Hosanna Industries headquarters in Rochester, PA. Additional GPC members met us there for a full day of physical work. From piles of wood, we built four sides of a house which will be assembled in early December for a family needing a house. Quoting from Rev. Mike's sermon, "Life is to be found by embracing our brothers and sisters in Christ, by loving our neighbors and by offering hospitality to strangers." We experienced a taste of that life by serving some of the needy and less fortunate in our community.

We are looking forward to having the opportunity to do it again - maybe in a different way or a different place, but still serving our neighbors as Jesus calls us to do. We'd love to have you join us!
